{"id":2110,"date":"2018-04-22T20:55:29","date_gmt":"2018-04-22T19:55:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/paradis-guitars.com\/shop\/?post_type=product&#038;p=2110"},"modified":"2026-02-03T16:15:11","modified_gmt":"2026-02-03T16:15:11","slug":"neutricon-cable-new","status":"publish","type":"product","link":"https:\/\/paradis-guitars.com\/shop\/product\/neutricon-cable-new\/","title":{"rendered":"Neutricon Cable new"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>a new version of the cable needed to connect the Paradis Avalon (made between 1989 and 1995) to the Polysubbass<\/p>\n<p>we can make any other length for slightly changing prices<\/p>\n<p>this original Neutricon was genius in that it contained the same contacts on male and female connector and that they cleaned each other, so we had very little failures in the 30 years we are using them. except that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>its possible to acidentally insert a 1\/4 connector and it can bend the contacts &#8211; but <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=PNEqESIPqcE\">you can bend them back<\/a>, carefully!<\/li>\n<li>if one of the male contacts stands out, it can drive you crazy because it bends all the female contacts it meets (but not reverse \ud83d\ude42 and the only connector that works well is the one that is<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=PNEqESIPqcE\"> really wrong<\/a> and destroys the others<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>the newer Neutricon use a classic pin-whole construction, in solid and gold plated Neutrik quality and the plastic parts insert into the old Neutricon housings, so those metal parts do not need to be replaced.<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/www.neutrik.com\/en\/neutrik\/products\/circular-connectors\/neutricon<\/p>\n<p>consider upgrading to the <a href=\"https:\/\/paradis-guitars.com\/guitar-connector\/\">new guitar connector !<\/a><\/p>\n<p>to exchange the <a href=\"https:\/\/paradis-guitars.com\/shop\/product\/cable-avalon-intern-new\/\">flat cable in the <strong>Avalon<\/strong><\/a>:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>remove small back cover<\/li>\n<li>disconnect the 10pin header connector (remember its position) if you have an older green board it may be difficult, see below!<\/li>\n<li>unscrew the output connector.<\/li>\n<li>remove the plastic ring so the plastic part of the connector comes out of the metal output chassis<\/li>\n<li>place the new cable and fix it with the ring<\/li>\n<li>screwing back the output chassis, watch that the ground wire is squeezed between the connector and the wood<\/li>\n<li>connect the 10pin connector to the preamp board (watch out, its easy to put it off by one pin)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>to exchange the <a href=\"https:\/\/paradis-guitars.com\/shop\/product\/new-neutricon-polysubbass\/\">flat cable in the <strong>Polysubbass<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>remove cover.<\/li>\n<li>remove the rings of the input and output connectors<\/li>\n<li>remove the 10pin flat cable connector from the main board<\/li>\n<li>unscrew the Neutricon housing of the back panel<\/li>\n<li>pass the new cable through that hole (needs some be bent around the 10pin header to pass through)<\/li>\n<li>screw the 13pin with the same screws into the same holes (yes, we are lucky!)<\/li>\n<li>connect insert the new Neutricon into the front housing and fix it with the ring<\/li>\n<li>connect the 10pin connector to the main board (watch out, its easy to put it off by one pin)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>if your <strong>preamp<\/strong> is <strong>green<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>the connector soldered directly to the PCB, you can still exchange the cable without soldering, but its more difficult: you need to remove the black top part by bending it on both sides, then remove the cable and press the new cable together with the top part. to be able to press the to part, you probably need to unscrew the PCB.
