Paradis Avalon guitar with headstock by Rolf Spuler

a prototype made by Rolf. an original steelstring Avalon modified with a headstock!

the modification does not look perfect, that’s probably why Rolf did not sell it. but it plays and sounds better than a headless Avalon because its more hollow and better balanced!

you can also put nylon strings with a ball end!

it has the original Avalon electronics built in but it and comes with an external Polybass-Box

Description

I know of 2 Avalon users that preferred it with a headstock: Andreas Vollenweider and Sigi Schwab
Rolf followed the wishes of both great musicians and friends.

I suspect this guitar here was a prototype for this purpose. Rolf Spuler simply glued a headstock to the end of the neck
without tuning block its more hollow, which influences the sound rather positively

the distance between the ball end of the string and the pickup is rather short, so you have to either use strings with short enough zone where the two wires are twisted or shorten that zone by cutting a few mm of the very end of the string
